    Jean Marie McNamara is a military Veteran currently residing in Downers Grove, IL. She enjoys spending time with her family, dogs, and terrapin named Mashed Potatoes.
    Lita Tomas, served for 26 years in the Armed Forces. Major Tomas served with the combined forces unit, USTRANSCOM. She is a proud mother and grandmother. When Lita’s not out trying to save the world, one person at a time, she’s spending time at her daughter Kym’s farm.

    As a soon to be divorced single mother Lita joined the US Army in 1977. She hoped for a career, education, and self sufficiency. Lita ended up finding love and so much more. Sixteen years later her daughter, Jean Marie, found herself following in her mother’s foot steps. This mother daughter duo have faced triumph and tragedy together.

    Thank you for your efforts on this project! To clarify: the daughter was the injured party, and wheelchair user at 26 years of age, the mother (also a military veteran) was the caregiver. We’ve spent 3 years crafting this memoir and your artistic flair is the final stage in this process. Thank you!
