In ‘Being An Artist’ series, we share the authentic journey of various artists who believed in their artistic dreams and worked hard to make them come true. In this post, we are introducing a PrintShop artist from the Philippines who loves to sketch his favorite anime characters and challenge himself to create original art each day.
Meet Marlon Limosnero from the province of Laguna in the Philippines. He calls himself a graphic artist who loves to create artwork for various t-shirts and apparel. His love for creating art sprouted during his teenage days where he used to draw his superhero characters like Superman and Spiderman. After studies, he decided to consider his passion of creating anime art into a full-time career.
Thereafter, he started to work on various freelance projects and started creating amazing designs for various apparel. As a freelancer, he explored various online platforms to sell his artwork and gain exposure to showcase his love for sketches.
During that time, he got to know about PrintShop, the print on demand marketplace. Today, he’s one of the aspiring artists on-board who is winning the hearts of millions through his creative and startling comic designs.
Let’s Know More About Marlon In His Own Words:
‘I started loving art as a child. I have had a fetish for superheroes. During my elementary years, I used to draw superhero characters like Spiderman, Wolverine, and Superman. Even now, I love to watch anime which inspires me to create anime artworks. I love to sketch my favorite anime characters for various t-shirt designs. Today, I’ve started making character designs and challenged myself to create original art that I can call my own. That’s the reason I’ve got into t-shirt designing. T-shirt is only type of apparel where you can showcase creative art for all types of generation. Therefore, I joined PrintShop to fulfill my desire to create more anime art. My art is quite famous among children and teenage boys. It’s overwhelming to see your art is printed on t-shirts and see them being worn by others. It gives you peace, satisfaction, and zeal to work harder and create amazing designs for my audience.’ – Marlon
PrintShop – What’s your process of creating a piece of artwork and what tools and techniques do you use?
Marlon – According to my understanding, every artist has his/her way of creating art. Like, I start my process in a traditional sketch by pencil and paper. After I finish doing my sketch I transfer my drawing on my computer and create it digitally on Adobe Illustrator and make it a vector-based artwork.
PrintShop – How do you find inspiration and stay creative?
Marlon – I would be honest here. I find inspiration in other artists’ work. Whenever I see a cool creation from another prominent artist I get inspired and strive to make better artworks.
PrintShop – Did you face any challenges in your artistic journey? If so, How did you overcome it?
Marlon – Most of the time, I get frustrated whenever I feel that I can’t create new artworks. Sometimes it gets tough. In such conditions, I try to find inspiration on others’ creative creations.
PrintShop – What is the best advice you’ve gotten as an artist or the most important thing you’ve learned
Marlon – Being good in art is a great thing and making it for yourself is better. In this way, you feel satisfied. Therefore, create art for yourself first. If you loved it, anyone would love it.
