Last updated on December 21st, 2021

In every work of art, the artist is present. The quote signifies our artist from Spain perfectly. This week, ‘Being An Artist’ presents a super talented artist who loves to draw beautiful, cute and tiny characters. PrintShop by Designhill feels excited to share the authentic journey of this artist who believed in her artistic dreams and worked hard to make them come true. Meet Olga Bortniak aka Olga Rodriquez.

Olga is a talented Russian artist and a mom who is currently living in Spain. Since childhood, she used to play with the dolls and create doll miniatures. Apart from that, she creates botanical illustrations and uses Procreate and Adobe Illustrator as her tools.

Currently, she is one of the renowned artists in our creative marketplace, PrintShop who loves to create artwork, especially for kids.

Olga Artwork

Since childhood, Olga was crazy for mini dolls. She transferred her love for dolls into her artwork. Today, she creates various drawings of cute dolls and uses various products such as custom tshirts, cups, cardboards, etc. as a medium to showcase her artwork.

Today, she is working on various freelance projects and creating amazing designs for various apparel. As an artist, she explored various online platforms to share her artwork and gain exposure to showcase her love for drawings.

Let’s know more about Olga in her words:

Artist - Olga

“I’m a mom, originally from Russia and living in Spain right now. For me, art is like a lifeline, oxygen for my body (ROFL). I love to draw cute girls and bubbly tiny characters. Also, I like to make botanical patterns. For creating my artwork, I use tools like Procreate and Adobe Illustrator to create beautiful artworks. Art is like a stressbuster for me. I enjoy drawing with paper and pencil/pen. Apart from creating art, I love to study. Since childhood, I used to play and create dolls. Now, I have started designing clothes for them. Currently, I sell my artworks on PrintShop as well.”

PrintShop: When did you start your artistic journey and how did you realize that this is something that you would like to do?

Olga: I make dolls. Therefore, I decided to make a logo for my IG account and website as well. Therefore, I started to learn Adobe Illustrator. Then, I discovered the Skillshare platform. And, I kept learning.

Today, I think, I have made a big progress in my art journey. My dream is to connect and represent my handmade dolls as characters with illustrations to “tell stories” about them through the other products, such as stationary or textile articles.

PrintShop: What’s your process of creating a piece of artwork and what tools and techniques do you use?

Olga: I use Procreate because I can draw on my Ipad even without light in the room (while my little son is sleeping). I love to use color pencils and ink.

PrintShop: How do you find inspiration and stay creative?

Olga: Inspiration is everywhere. I love to see illustrations and books about plants and flowers, go to the park to make fast sketches of trees and plants, and my dolls for inspiration.

Olga Pattern Design

PrintShop: Did you ever participate in any art challenges in your artistic journey? If yes, how did you overcome it?

Olga: I don’t know about hurdles but I have won a little “draw it in your style” challenge with the 1st place (said excitedly). It was an amazing feeling.

Though, I have participated in some pattern design challenges but didn’t receive any good results. I believe I need more practice in creating pattern designs.
