Being an artist requires equal amounts of passion and indulgence, as, without a clear focus and hard work, an artist is merely a thinker. People take up different kinds of jobs, but soon they realize it is not just about fulfilling their needs, but their passion as well. The same goes for our artist, who creates art for a global audience from Serbia, a country known for its rich heritage and cultures.
PrintShop by Designhill strives to reach every nook and cranny to find the best of the artists and showcase their artworks. Vasilije S, who is known by his pseudonym Frajtgorski, is our feature artist of the week. Frajtgorski has set an example of how it is never too late to begin new ventures in life and stick by them also. Here is a short conversation of PrintShop and Frajtgorski that explains how he started his artistic journey and is continuously evolving his skills to keep up with the trends.
When we asked him to take us through his journey as an Artist, he said-
“I am a self-taught illustrator from Serbia, the European country where Nicola Tesla was born. This place is full of historical artifacts, nature, and art that inspire me every day. I have experience in both traditional and digital forms of drawing and painting. Though I started learning art in a conventional way, I am now proficient in digital art as well. I have made the best use of the internet to teach myself about vectors, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop. The world has expanded its marketplaces globally, and various platforms allow an artist like me to reach the target audience globally.”
PrintShop: When did you start your Artistic Journey, and how did you realize that this is something you would like to do?
Frajtgorski: From the early years of my age, when I was 7, I loved to spend my time drawing and painting. I never gave thought about making Art as my career, so I started doing different jobs, but none of them made me feel happy. It was when I was 27 years old and decided to quit my job and start my professional journey as an Artist. I haven’t looked back since then.
PrintShop: What is your process of Creating a piece of Artwork, and what Tools and Techniques do you use?
Frajtgorski: Though I know both traditional and digital means of creating artworks, I stick to digital methods because of the full range of effects and tools it provides. I draw by hand, using mostly illustrator and Photoshop. I use Wacom Cintiq 22HD as a tool to create all my artworks.
PrintShop: How do you find Inspiration and stay Creative?
Frajtgorski: While being born and brought up in Serbia, there are a lot of things that inspire me, including its Rich History, Culture, Nature, and People. Apart from that, I love watching horror movies, exploring Nature, and anything unique. All these sources make it pretty easy for me to find Inspiration.
PrintShop: Did you face any challenge in your Artistic Journey? If yes, how did you overcome it?
Frajtgorski: Yes, I have faced many challenges since the beginning of my career as an Artist. Though I have overcome every big and small problem, I still struggle with one thing that I find it easy to draw but difficult to share my Art and make it visible to others on social media. I am learning marketing tips and tricks and hope to overcome this hurdle in my career as a confident Artist.
PrintShop: What is the best advice you have gotten as an Artist or the most essential thing you have learned?
Frajtgorski: People around you will always try to influence you with what they think is right. But, I advise you to do what you love and do not focus on anything else. I have been following this single piece of advice and achieved many milestones in my career as an Artist.
