In the last part of the tutorial we learnt the use of smooth brush tool and debris brush tool. We learnt how to do retouching on the model’s face of our stock photo.
In this part of the tutorial, we’ll learn the use of pen tool, use of overlay option, effective use of Gassian Blur and spiral brushes. We’ll also learn how to insert feathers on and around model’s face to instill it with evil look.
In the next part (part 3) of the tutorial we’ll learn how to insert crow (from the stock images) on the hairs of the model. We’ll also learn how to create an effect as if crows are emanating from the model’s hair.
Step 1
Create a new layer on top (Layer 4). Activate your Pen Tool with the Shape Layers option. Now draw a black shape around the eyeregion (over and under) of your model photo.
Step 2
Change the mode to Overlay 100%. Now if the shape extends outside the face of the model, remove that part by adding layer mask. Below is the completed version of your model photo.
Step 3
Create a new layer (Layer 5). Now, paint the front and lower part of lips with a hard brush with color code #ff0000. This will effectively paint the lips with the red color.
Now simply alter the mode of the layer to overlay (100%).
Have a look at the zoomed overlay image.
Create a new layer (Layer 19). Now change the brush mode to feather ones. You need to choosebrush with number 584 for painting behind the neck of the model.
Add feathers to top, left and foreground of the model photo. Insert as many feathers as you feel like randomly. For every layer, you’ll have to choose:
Filter->Blur->Gassian Blur
Create a new layer (Layer 22) on top of all existing layers. Now, change foreground color to #1d1b1b and activate the abstract spiral brushes. Select brush with number 1176. Use it to paint the neck region with feathers.
Create two layers on top while changing the foreground to black. On every layer, use watercolor brushes for painting the neck with feathers.
In this part of the tutorial, we learnt use of pen tool, use of overlay, Gassian Blur and spiral brushes. We learnt insertion of feathers on and around the model’s neck and face to create an evil look.
In the next part (part 3) of the tutorial we’ll learn how to insert crow on the hairs of the model and merge it with the hair line so that it appears as if crow is coming out from model’s hair.
