Apple celebrates the 2025 MLS Season with a custom logo for each team

Apple has launched multiple versions of its logo to celebrate the 2025 Major League Soccer season. The season, which is comprised of 30 teams, 15 teams in each conference, Eastern and Western, starting on February 22 and will continue until October 18. The league has partnered with Apple to stream each game on Apple TV.

To commemorate the event’s 30 years, Apple has come up with a brand new redesign of its logo. The new logo design is in the form of Apple custom patches appearing on the players' sleeves as badges for the entire season. The Apple logo appears as a unique redesign for each team as its unique visual identity represents its club’s culture. 

Why the new Apple logo?

Emeka Ofodile, Apple’s global head of sports marketing, has said that the custom redesigning of the Apple logo was for making the soccer season and the 30th-anniversary milestone memorable.

Besides commemorating the 30 years of the MSL, here are two major reasons for the Apple TV appearing differently:

Enhance partnership with the MSL

A significant reason for the Apple logo for each team of the MSL season is regarding the partnership. The company wants to strengthen its partnership with the MSL further. 

In a statement, Ofodile, Apple’s global head of sports marketing, said, “We’re always looking for creative ways to enhance our partnership with Major League Soccer, both throughout the regular season and during key moments like Leagues Cup, All-Star, and MLS Cup. Fans have loved seeing MLS show up across their favorite Apple services — including Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Maps, and even in Apple Store locations. Create individual visual identities 

Another purpose served by the different forms of the Apple logo is to give each MSL team its distinctive identity. 30 clubs are participating in the event. To design a logo, the company considered each club’s own identity. The fans should be able to identify each team by looking at their logos or custom patches on the left sleeves. 

Regarding these identities, Ofodile said, “We wanted to nod to the incredible visual identity of each of the 30 clubs.” While the individual designs were a collaboration between the teams and Apple: “We worked closely to make sure the designs felt authentic to each club and the feedback has been really positive,” 

The inspiration behind the redesign

The clubs' identities were the main inspiration behind these 30 logo redesigns. The intention was to consider each club’s own crest and color pattern. 

That is why the same logo design gets 30 fresh spins to it. Each logo spin then represents its team in the competition.  

For example, Inter Miami CF team players will sport an Apple logo with a pink spotting star on the jersey’s left sleeve, and the New York Red Bulls players will have an Apple TV logo in gold, red, and white.

Custom patches on players' kits 

However, the Apple logo will not be seen everywhere. The Apple TV custom patches will be seen only on the players’ kits. You can, therefore, see the patches only on the ground when teams are playing against each other. The patches will be seen on player profile shots and professional game photography. Custom badges will also be seen in the live broadcasts.
