Mozilla introduces new logo design with a dinosaur mascot

Mozilla might be planning to launch its new logo as its official wordmark. A German blogger, Soren Hentzschel, has recently spotted a new Mozilla logo on the browser’s website.

He recently noticed a new Mozilla word mark on Mozilla’s ‘Nothing Personal’ webpage. Soren Hentzschel is a Mozilla enthusiast and keeps track of everything related to the browser.

The Mozilla logo design currently has the internet protocol “://” that the company picked based on its community feedback.

The newly spotted logo, however, is an entirely different wordmark.

According to Soren Hentzschel, the new logo combines a wordmark and a dinosaur symbol. Such symbols are important elements to design a logo.

While the current Mozilla wordmark (moz://a) uses the Zilla Slab typeface, the new logo has completely replaced it with a new typeface. The new logo will be used in the Mozilla website’s navigation and footer areas, landing pages, and elsewhere.

The new typeface is blocky and angular and looks cool. The company chose this typeface to create a logo because it gives it a distinctive ‘tech’ personality. The lowercase ‘a’ has a terminal and looks like monospace-esque, which conveys that it is all about computers.

A striking and entirely new feature of the new Mozilla word mark is its use of an ASCII-esque symbol. The foremost reason for using this symbol to make a logo is that it can be interpreted in different ways.

It may seem like a flag on a pole. In that way, it symbolizes the browser’s authority and domination of the world of the internet.

It may also look to someone as representing the original old Mozilla mascot that the company inherited from Netscape. Mozilla might be paying tribute to its beginning days by using this element.

Another noticeable change is that the logo designer removed the old black background and replaced it with a transparent logo.
