Many of us designers here in the Philippines started from nothing, the resources are limited and we are stuck in pen and paper as a medium for expressing our ideas in art. While some can produce a better and much greater design for they have complete materials, also the support of their parents regarding their passion is an important matter. This illustration shows the problems that we as designers are currently facing right now, the lack of budget for investing in better equipment and materials. Here we can see that the guy is reaching for a flag, coins are scattered everywhere thrown by hands wearing formal attire. In the background, it is visible that there are two persons at the top of the piled coins who effortlessly got their flags. If you noticed, the flag was not too high for the guy to reach if he only jumped a little higher. I want to show that an artist can reach his goal and endeavors by being persistent. No matter how long and painful it would take us to compare to others, what’s important is we’re trying to reach for the top and we don’t give up on our goals. All it takes is patience and perseverance. In regards to the saying “you think you’re not enough because you let someone else determine your worth” is divided into two different perspectives. One of the biggest problems why artists stopped following their passion is the lack of support from their parents. I know a lot of people who chose a different course and left their passion for drawing because their parents keep on telling them that they won’t be of any good if they’re going to pursue arts. The other one is the Client who underestimates the work of a designer they commissioned and offers them a low price for a high budget project.
